During the vacation periods in July and January, UDD and international students from all Schools visit the underprivileged communities in our country. For 2 weeks they live with the local inhabitants, providing aid through their skills and energy.
Students implement different activities, such as the construction and restoration of homes and schools, legal aid, health care and talks on preventing alcoholism and drug addiction. They also conduct recreational activities and workshops for children and housewives, among other target groups, organized according to their expertise and know-how. This also represents an opportunity to put the knowledge and skills acquired in classrooms to work.
Community work is a wonderful experience where students live with people whose reality is extremely different and they learn, firsthand, what the basic needs of the Chilean population are and the real meaning of public responsibility, the hallmark of UDD.
