The COIL activity took place within the framework of the activities programmed between the collaborative workshops of Architecture UDD and the Pratt GAUD of the Pratt Institute of New York. Based on a joint academic trip between the two courses to Chiloé, they worked on documenting, recording and surveying issues of interest and latent needs in the city of Castro, with which to explore opportunities for the development of seafront architecture projects, with social, cultural and identity impact.
The activity included talks by teachers from both workshops; participation of invited architects; joint tours of Chiloé, San Juan and Dalcahue, and an exercise in mixed teams (both workshops) that began in Chiloé, with subsequent follow-up and cross-corrections at a distance. Finally, the results of the COIL were presented by both groups of students in a joint presentation at the Pratt Institute in New York.
